Outcome Preparation: Preparatory Drawings, Plates

I wanted to draw out the imagery I had chosen first as I found this worked better during my experimentation when I had both a photographic and drawn reference. I started with the 'mum' plate and tried drawing out simple details, however I think because the subject is older more details are needed to create a sense of age, as such I did two drawings one simpler and one in more detail though still retaining the minimal style.
I then used a circular template to mimic a plate and draw the imagery onto it before writing around it with quotes I had previously chosen. I think this works well and gives a bit of context to the statements without revealing too much. I then carried on this process for the next plates working from daughter to brother to father. I chose to have the female members drawn towards the right side of the plate and the male ones on the left side just to vary the style and presentation. I'm happy with how these look and I think they will work out really well.
