Outcome Preparation: Sanding
After purchasing a table and chairs for my outcome, it was clear they needed sanding down so I could paint them as they were a dark mahogany colour. I used an electric sander, after being shown how to use it safely by my dad.
The first time I went over them I used a coarse sanding pad which took off most of the thick stuff I didn't need. It took awhile for me to get used to using the sander but I was really proud of my work and enjoyed how hands on it was, it felt like I'd actually done something. I then wiped all the chairs, tabletop and legs down with a damp cloth to get rid of the dust before letting them dry. After that, I went over them with a fine sanding pad which smoothed the wood out so it will have a flatter finish when painted. Again I washed them down and brought them into the studio to paint.
