Experimentation: Machine Embroidery
After talking to the textiles tutor about my project, she liked the sewn napkin and showed me to do basic machine embroidery as the hand sewn took a long time. It was hard to initially get over the fear of sewing machines, but once I did I enjoyed the process more.
I started out drawing basic letters and then moved onto to writing out words and then sentences. The latter, didn't work out very well but I did impress myself with the letters considering it was my first proper time making embroidery this way. And though I'm not sure I'll need it again, I think it was a valuable experience and a necessary experiment for the development of my project. It's made me sure I don't want to sew my final piece.
